We welcome inquires about Joining St. Cosmas Deanery

If you are interested in becoming an Oblate, fill out our Inquiry Form so we may contact you. Please note, completion of this form does not constitute St. Cosmas Deanery membership or an obligation to join. The form and information will be kept strictly confidential!

Any baptized Christian may enter the Oblate Program if they are in good standing with their denomination. A Roman Catholic must be in full communion with the Church, Confirmed, and receive the Eucharist regularly. Clergy not belonging to a religious order are welcome to apply. Similarly, any layperson applying should not have an official affiliation with another religious community.

After discerning that they are called to the Benedictine way of life, the candidate is accepted into the program as an Oblate Novice. For one year, they make a personal commitment to learn about Benedictine spirituality, read the Rule, and apply it to their daily life. After the completion of one year, the Oblate Novice may seek to make a lifelong commitment as a full Oblate at a formal Rite of Investiture.
